About us

Why I do what I do

I believe the most soulful spaces are designed with intention. Every material chosen for a reason, every detail considered. That’s why I founded My Upcycle Home: to create spaces that are as thoughtful as they are beautiful.

How it started.

My Upcycle Home didn’t start with a business plan. It started with a vocation: a deep need to create spaces that feel alive and meaningful.

My journey began in Bogotá, Colombia, where I studied Interior Design at the School of Interior Design (Esdiart). That’s where I discovered my love for textures, color, and meaningful details. I spent years restoring furniture by hand, learning every material, every technique, and eventually that hands-on craft evolved into a broader vision for full-service interior design.

I launched My Upcycle Home to fill a gap I kept seeing: spaces that looked beautiful but felt empty, or sustainable approaches that sacrificed design quality. I wanted to prove you could have both: great design and environmental responsibility, without compromise.

To deliver at that level, I built a team alongside my husband Luis. While I focus on the creative vision, Luis brings financial strategy and operational precision, and Monica manages our digital presence and brand voice. Together, we ensure every project runs with the same care that goes into the design itself.

THE APPROACH

How I work.

Every project begins the same way: I listen. I want to understand how you live in your space, what matters to you, and what (if anything) already carries meaning.

Then I design around that. Sometimes the solution is a complete transformation with new materials. Sometimes it’s reimagining what’s already there. And sometimes it’s finding the perfect reclaimed piece that brings a layer of character nothing new could replicate. I use all three approaches, whatever serves the space best.

I especially love working with couples who have completely different tastes; finding that sweet spot where both people feel at home in the same space is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. It takes patience, creativity, and a lot of listening. But when they both walk in and say “this is exactly right”, that’s the moment I do this for.

“Good design isn’t about choosing between old and new. It’s about knowing what a space needs and having the skill to deliver it.”

WHAT WE STAND FOR

The principles behind every project.

Design with depth.

We believe in spaces that have layers: of meaning, of texture, of story. Whether we’re building from scratch or reimagining what exists, every element is chosen with purpose.

Sustainability as a tool, not a limit.

We approach sustainability as a creative advantage. Reclaimed materials, restored pieces, and conscious sourcing aren’t restrictions, they’re opportunities to create something no catalog could offer.

Honesty in design.

We design for how you actually live. Beautiful spaces should feel like home: functional, warm, and personal. Not a showroom, not a magazine cover. Yours.
